ABOUT ALEX

Alex is a Yoga, Pilates teacher and body therapy practitioner with over 20 years of experience in treating people from all around the world

Many of Alex’s clients have kindly described her as inspiring and intuitive. Some with a more wicked sense of humour have named her 'Dr Spock' as she has an uncanny ability of knowing just the right spot to focus on to achieve profound physical and emotional release in the body.

Alex’s curiosity for body therapies began during her degree in Journalism from Cardiff University when she also began training in yoga and contemporary dance. She became fascinated by movement, both internal and external. Brilliant teachers helped her on her journey. One was was Philip Jones, an ex-coal miner whose lungs were 70% saturated with coal dust. Philip kept himself alive with pranayama, a form of yogic breathing. Another was Mary Madhavi who specialised in the psychological aspects of yoga as well as shamanism. Alex also found that her own struggles with asthma were eased through Chinese medicine and natural health practices, she was inspired.

Alex moved from Wales to London, where both her brothers were living and involved in the film and art world, which she loved. In London, she began working with Torben Hersborg at his clinic on Old Street. At the time she was suffering from an ankle injury she had received while dancing professionally. Alex resigned herself to this being a long-term issue as she’d tried all sorts of treatments. However, after a couple of sessions with Torben, who realigned her ankle joint and foot, the pain disappeared. She was sincerely impressed, and the experience inspired her to work alongside him to this day at the Central London Osteopathy Clinic.
